The saga of four brave and very different women who battle the red estate developer called the Austrian and the city of Miami Beach in saving their home from the onslaught of the real estate development of South Beach of Miami in 1968. Their defender is a 36-year-old alcoholic lawyer who is also involved in a trial of his client's devastating injury case against an unfeeling and prejudicial judge and a defense lawyer who politically controls the judicial system of Miami. Each woman has traveled through their respective lives on obstacle filled roads, starting with Helen and the concentration camp called Auschwitz to Rachel who led 2,500 Jewish children out of Germany during World War II. It is a novel involving people who have seen the dark side of our world and who now strive to climb out of the tunnel of darkness to the brilliant light of hope and redemption. |
